Zionsville Mid-Century
A bath for the Morton’s in their late mid-century home. We reimagined this space while re-purposing many original elements and bringing in new materials, classic to mid-century architecture.
In our initial walk through with Morgan and Dan, it was clear that they were passionate about honoring the history of the home and that they wanted to lean into a design that had permanence v newness. They had even sat down with the woman who grew up in this house, built by her father. The work we get to do becomes most exciting when people start a project with such care and intentionality.
This project was equal part craft as it was build; so much of what you see was hand-crafted in the shop and fitted on-site. Repurposing the original mermaid shower doors into art, sourcing recycled material for the vanity top and shower niche, creating those mid-century block lines with casework and a hidden track for the shower curtain: the list goes on. Sourcing local, fabricating local, and prioritizing the ‘what if we…’.
Morgan and Dan were incredible (!) to work with on this one. Morgan especially was such a creative collaborator throughout. Both of them were equally excited about pushing craft, design, and repurpose as much as we were. A dream, really!
And to cap off these photos, here is where this project started.
draft
draft, our love letter to Indy.
A labor of love.
We built draft between 2020-2022.
Ever since we took a hard shift in industries and followed our passions for a career, we had dreamed of making space for the entrepreneurial and creative community here in Indy. When we first started Open Frame we had little resources: in business, in community, in know-how but we made up for that with boundless energy, a commitment to learning and the mastering of building out spaces, and a love for connecting with others. Through projects, we found Indy was full of creative talent and people who were ready to collaborate.
draft is a place to learn in transparency and vulnerability, to take a load off, to be seen, to test out ideas with genuine support, and to be celebrated. It’s a place that feels good by design but more importantly because of the people who choose to reside there.
We opened draft in early 2023 and the amount of good that has come out of this project is immeasurable.
Day 1 of renovations
After many many storms, we were able to get the second floor up.
SoBro Bungalow
SoBro Bungalow with Olivia and David
A kitchen for Olivia and David in their SoBro bungalow. We opened up their space while honoring the original thought behind this early 1900s build.
When we first walked through their space it was obvious at how much these two had a heart for one another, their pups, nature, and their community. Soft arches, honey oaks, brass undertones and organic materials throughout was the ticket.
It was such a joy to work with Olivia and David on their home. Below are photos of their project.
